Privacy Policy

Last updated November 1, 2026

Rex AI ("Rex," "we," "us") runs Rex, an AI assistant you text about your spending, and the website at userex.app. We're based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Your phone number and messages. When you text Rex, we receive your phone number, the messages you send, and Rex's replies. If you add Rex to a group chat, we also receive the messages in that group, including ones from people who don't use Rex.
  • Bank information. If you connect a bank account, our provider Plaid shares your account names, balances and transactions with us. We never see or store your bank username or password.
  • Payment information. If you start a plan, Stripe processes your payment. We never receive your full card number.
  • What you tell Rex. Things like your goals, how you'd like Rex to talk to you, and the creator code you texted, if any.
  • Website visits. Our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs, like your IP address and browser type. The site doesn't use advertising cookies or trackers.

How we use it

  • To run Rex: reply to your texts, review your spending, track your goal, and send your evening check-ins.
  • To set your price, based on your last two months of spending.
  • To bill you, if you start a plan.
  • To keep Rex safe: prevent abuse, and point people to real help if a message sounds like a crisis.
  • To fix problems and make Rex better.
  • To follow the law.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use your messages or bank data for advertising.

AI

Rex's replies are written by AI. To write them, we send your messages and the relevant parts of your spending to an AI model provider. We only use providers that don't train their models on the data we send them.

Group chats

When someone adds Rex to a group chat, Rex receives every message in it. Rex only talks about the spending of group members who have connected a bank and opted in, and it never brings up sensitive spending like health, pharmacy, therapy, dating or adult purchases. Anyone in the group can tell Rex to be quiet. We use messages from people who haven't signed up only to run the group chat feature.

Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that help us run Rex, and only what they need to do their part:

  • Blooio, which sends and receives Rex's texts.
  • Plaid, which connects your bank. Plaid's End User Privacy Policy covers how it handles your data.
  • Stripe, which processes payments. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • AI model providers, which write Rex's replies.
  • Vercel, which hosts our website and servers.

We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Rex. If Rex changes hands, this policy keeps applying to your information.

Where your data is stored

We're based in Canada, but our providers store and process data in the United States and other countries. The laws there may let courts or authorities access it.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you use Rex. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your messages, bank data and profile within 30 days, except records the law requires us to keep, like payment records.

Your choices

  • Stop the texts: text STOP to Rex at any time.
  • Disconnect your bank: email us, or use Plaid Portal.
  • See, correct or delete your data: email hello@userex.app. We'll respond within 30 days.
  • Withdraw your consent: you can stop using Rex and ask us to delete your data at any time. Rex can't work without some of it.

If you're not satisfied with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy regulator where you live.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and by limiting who can see it. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise it will never be breached. If a breach puts you at real risk of harm, we'll tell you.

Teens

Rex is for people 13 and older. If you're 13 to 17, or under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use Rex. If we learn we've collected information from someone under 13, we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll text you before it takes effect.
