What Rex is

Rex is an AI assistant that looks at your spending, helps you pick a goal, and texts you about how you're doing. Rex is not a bank, financial advisor, or tax or legal professional, and nothing it says is financial, investment, tax or legal advice.

Rex's replies are written by AI and can be wrong. Double-check anything important, and make your own decisions. Rex can be blunt and may swear; you can ask it to tone things down at any time.

Who can use Rex

You must be at least 13. If you're 13 to 17, or under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms on your behalf. Only connect bank accounts you're allowed to use.

Texting

By texting Rex, you agree to get texts back from Rex. If you start a plan, you agree to get recurring texts, like evening check-ins. How often Rex texts depends on your plan and how you use it.

Text STOP to stop getting texts, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Rex works best over iMessage on an iPhone, and some features may not work on other phones.

Group chats

You can add Rex to a group chat, but only do it in groups where everyone's fine with it. Rex only talks about people who have opted in, and anyone in the group can tell Rex to be quiet. Don't use Rex to harass or embarrass anyone.

Connecting your bank

Rex uses Plaid to connect your bank. By connecting, you let us read your account and transaction information through Plaid, and you agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. Rex can only read your data; it can't move money or make payments. You can disconnect at any time.

Price and payment

• Your first spending review is free.
• After that, ongoing help is $10 a month, or $5 a month if Rex decides money's been tight, based on your last two months of spending. Rex tells you your price before you pay.
• Plans renew every month until you cancel, and Stripe charges your card at the start of each month. Prices are in US dollars unless Rex tells you otherwise.
• You can cancel at any time from the billing link Rex texts you, or by emailing hello@userex.app. You keep your plan until the end of the month you've paid for. We don't refund partial months, except where the law requires it.
• If we change our prices, we'll text you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, so you can cancel first.

Not for emergencies

Rex isn't a crisis or mental health service. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911. If you're struggling, call or text 988 in the US or Canada to reach a crisis line.

Your content

You own what you send Rex. You give us permission to store and process it to run Rex, as described in our Privacy Policy. Rex's name, software and website belong to us.

What you can't do

• Use Rex for anything illegal.
• Harass, threaten or abuse anyone through Rex.
• Try to break, overload or reverse engineer Rex.
• Send spam or automated messages to Rex's number.
• Connect a bank account you're not allowed to use, or pretend to be someone else.

We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms.

No guarantees

Rex is provided as is. We work hard to keep it accurate and running, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free, or that you'll save any amount of money. Savings figures on our site are examples, not promises.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on what Rex says. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending things

You can stop using Rex at any time: text STOP, cancel your plan, and ask us to delete your data. We may stop offering Rex or end your access. If we end a paid plan for any reason other than you breaking these terms, we'll refund the unused part of your month.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and text you before significant changes take effect. If you keep using Rex after that, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts in Toronto, Ontario, unless the law where you live lets you bring them elsewhere. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law.
